Welcome to the Grand Opera House York. To help ensure an enjoyable and safe experience for everyone, please take a moment to read the following important information: Safety & Security. The safety of our customers and staff is our top priority. Bag checks may be in place, so we recommend arriving early to avoid queues. Please do not bring suitcases, rucksacks, or large bags as these are not permitted inside the theatre and will be refused entry.
Food & Drink -To maintain a safe and pleasant environment, hot drinks, alcoholic beverages, and all food (hot or cold) may not be brought into the venue and will be confiscated. Tins, cans, and glass bottles are not allowed in the auditorium, and these items will be held at the entrance and will be available for collection after the show.
Children & Age Restrictions - All children aged 18 months to 15 years require their own ticket. Please note: Children under 3 will only be admitted to shows specifically advertised as suitable for that age group. If child discounts are unavailable at the time of booking, a full-price ticket must be purchased. All children must be accompanied by an adult (18+) and we require one adult for every 10 children, with the supervising adult sitting next to the children. The Management reserves the right to ask an adult to remove a child if they are causing a disturbance. Babes in arms (under 18 months) are only permitted at performances clearly marked as suitable for them (e.g., pantomimes). They are admitted free of charge but will not be allocated a seat. Any additional age restrictions will be listed on the show’s event page. During a performance we are able to store pushchairs/prams outside the auditorium
Cashless Venue - We operate as a cashless venue and all purchases—including Box Office, bars, merchandise, and concessions—must be made using a credit or debit card.
