The Lyceum Theatre in London is a long and complex tale of success, downfall and rebirth. It all started in 1772 when the Society of Arts founded a room for exhibitions and concerts near the site of the current building. Since this beginning the Lyceum has displayed a chameleon tendency, adapting to changing fashions and needs admirably. Now home to Disney’s ‘The Lion King,’ an average 760,000 patrons enjoy the Lyceum’s hospitality every year.

Step free access and wheelchairs

The wheelchair accessible entrance is via a double EXIT door situated at the front of the theatre on Wellington Street, to the left of the five main doors. This is clearly marked and provides level access to the Accessible Toilets and the Stalls seating area. Upon arrival, please notify the Doorman who will open the doors for you. From the accessible entrance, a gentle slope leads past the Accessible Toilets to the Stalls seating area and the Stalls Bar, which is fully accessible.

The theatre’s main entrance is up three steps to the lower foyer. The theatre’s main entrance is up three steps to the lower foyer. From here there are 12 steps down to the Stalls and 12 steps up to the Royal Circle landing where you will find the main Lion King merchandise shop and a further 24 steps to the Ballroom Bar where you can access the rear of the Royal Circle. The Grand Circle is up 83 steps.

There are six wheelchair spaces available in the Stalls seating area. Please be aware, not all of these spaces can accommodate wheelchairs above a certain size – please provide measurements of chairs and scooters at time of booking to enable Box Office Staff to advise you.

There are lift facilities available to all levels of the Lyceum Theatre, located via the entrance on Exeter Street. All levels, apart from the Stalls, are laid out over a number of steps. The lift to the Royal Circle brings you out into the auditorium at Row H (seats 2-3). From here there are a total of 14 steps down to Row A and 12 steps up to Row P. The lift to the Grand Circle brings you out into the auditorium near Row B (seats 1-2). From here there are 3 steps up then 3 steps down to Row A and 33 steps up to Row M. Please contact the Box Office to see detailed plans of each level of the theatre.

There are currently no low counters at the bars or confectionery kiosks, however, staff are available to take orders and will bring them to your seats if necessary. There is a Disney merchandise kiosk in the Stalls which is fully accessible.

Accessible toilets

Two Accessible Toilets are situated just inside the Level Access entrance on the way to the Stalls. These toilets may be locked so if necessary, please contact a member of staff for assistance. All other levels of the theatre have toilets, which are accessed via stairs.

Assistance dogs

Assistance Dogs are welcome in the auditorium or can alternatively be left in the care of theatre staff. If you intend to bring an assistance dog, please state so at the time of booking.

The Lyceum Theatre has a limited number of large print and Braille programmes available. Please contact the Front of House Manager in advance to request.

Captioning & Audio Description: Available at all performances via mobile phone or tablet. Translation Subtitles: Offered in French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, and Spanish.

How to Use GalaPro:

3. Before the show:

Services for D/deaf and hard of hearing audiences

For all performances, the auditorium at The Lyceum Theatre is installed with the Mobile Connect system that will enhance the experience of visually impaired patrons or those who are hard of hearing. The Mobile Connect system provides an amplified performance for those who need it via your personal mobile phone or tablet. If you are not familiar with this service, here is some further information to assist you before arriving for a performance:

Anyone using this system will be able to hear a live feed of the performance on stage (with Audio Description if attending an Audio Described performance) through a headset or directly through their hearing aids. We would recommend when using this service, that you do not book the first 4 rows of the stalls, and avoid booking seat numbers 1-2 and 48-49 in the Grand Circle. If you are listening through hearing aids, please request a neck loop.

If you have either an iPhone/iPod/iPad or an android smartphone you can download the FREE Sennheiser Mobile Connect App from the app store through a WiFi connection (Downloading using your roaming data may incur extra data charges).

Bring your fully charged device with the latest version of the app installed and your own headphones to use in the venue. Please connect to HearingAssist Wi-Fi once inside the auditorium and make sure that your data is switched off and your phone is on silent (for the best experience, you may wish to switch your device to Airplane mode. The Mobile Connect App will still work under this function).

Our bars open 1½ hours (90 minutes) prior to a performance and theatre staff will be on hand here to help familiarise you with the App. If you do not have your own device, we have a limited number of devices and headphones available for use.
