Monday to Saturday 12:00 until 16:00, or 15 minutes after performances start. It opens on Sunday and 1 hour before performance time.
The Box Office closes 15 minutes after curtain up on performance days (normally 19:45). Sunday and Bank Holidays the Box Office is open one hour prior to performance time.
The Sunderland Empire has 5 bars around the venue, at Foyer, Stalls and Dress Circle levels.

Vesta Tilley laid the foundation stone of what is now the Sunderland Empire on 29 September 1906 and took to the stage on 1 July 1907 to officially declare the theatre open. Masterminded by two of the contemporary heads of British theatre, Edward Moss and Osward Stoll, the Sunderland Empire Theatre has undergone many changes since it opened but remains the North East’s premier entertainment venue.
