Award winning front man, Clive John, dedicates this year to a 50th anniversary tour of the legendary San Quentin State Prison recordings, which was televised on Granada Television on February 24th 1969, and later released on June 4 of that same year. Alongside Clive is his iconic wife June Carter played by Emily Heighway, a world class band (Spirit band) and the JCR horns.

All supported with full video projection, this show is simply the biggest and best celebration of Johnny Cash in the world today. Songs from the San Quentin live album will be performed mixed with all the hits and favourite songs that we all know and love. This show is only coming round once so don’t miss out!

On show days, service priority is given to 'today’s performance' sales and pre-paid collections. The box office remains open until 15 minutes after the start of the show. On Sundays or Bank Holidays we are open 1 hour before the start of the performance.
There are a range of bars to enjoy at the Grand Opera House at Stalls, Dress, Grand Circle levels as well as in the main Foyer.

Not originally intended to be a theatre, the buildings that comprise the Grand Opera House York officially opened in 1902 with Little Red Riding Hood starring Florrie Ford. Since then it has been owned by FJ Butterworth, the Shepherd of Shambles and the India Pru Co. Ltd who spent £4,000,000 restoring the theatre to its former glory in 1987.
