Mike + The Mechanics are Genesis founding member Mike Rutherford (Guitar), Andrew Roachford (lead, backing vocals and keyboards) – one of the UK’s most prolific R&B singers, whose previous hits include ‘Cuddly Toy’ and ‘Family Man’ – and Canadian-born singer, Tim Howar (lead and backing vocals), who formed and toured with his band Van Tramp, has performed with the likes of Rod Stewart and Paulo Nutini, and appeared as The Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera in London’s West End.
The ‘Refueled!’ Tour in 2023, will include tracks from their critically acclaimed, most recent top-10 selling album ‘Out of the Blue’, all the hits, plus some Genesis.
Their ninth album features re-workings of some of the band’s best loved tracks, including ‘The Living Years’ and the unforgettable ‘Over My Shoulder’.
New Theatre Oxford
There has been a theatre on George Street for almost 185 years. The first theatre was built in 1836, and a second in 1886. In 1908, the Dorrill family took over the venue and finally in 1934, the third Theatre opened; the ‘New Theatre’. Stanley Dorrill masterminded the rebuilding of the theatre as we know it today. He commissioned a new building from the well-known theatre architects William and T.R. Milburn of Sunderland. The Milburns developed the decadent art-deco interior with T.P Bennett and Sons, who also designed the Saville Theatre in London.
