Our Family Friday Palace Tours are a great way to for little ones to explore the Grade II listed theatre, hear about its amazing history, learn more about how it all works, and take part in some family-friendly activities. With the support of our glorious guides, you will tour the beautiful auditorium and have special access to restricted areas of the building.
Costumes for tour guests are not necessary but absolutely encouraged!
Adults should please be accompanied by a responsible child.
Timings and meeting point information:
Family Tours will last approximately 1 hour and 10 mins. Please arrive 5 minutes before your tour time as late comers may not be admitted.
Meeting point for Tours is the Palace Theatre Main Entrance on Oxford Street. Doors will open at your tour time.
Please be aware these tours are family focussed and the session content is devised with children in mind. If you are looking for a less ‘interactive’ experience, please check our website for more information about our general Public Theatre Tours aimed at a more grown-up audience!
Age: This activity is tailored to families with children under 11.
Access information: Routes may change and do, unavoidably, involve a number of stairs.
Regrettably, these tours are not suitable for people using a wheelchair.

The Palace Theatre of Varieties opened on Whit Monday 1891 and cost its owners the then colossal sum of £40,500. In the late 1970’s the Palace Theatre underwent a major refurbishment and re-opened in 1981 with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar and has since then retained its position as the premier provincial touring venue.
