Why go and see it?

With a feelgood factor built in, this show really does have something for everyone!

The one and only Barry Steele takes on the role of ‘The Big O,’ in The Roy Orbison Story® , He comes with great credentials and a genuine admiration for the Roy Orbison. Following his West End Debut at The Adelphi Theatre in The West End, Barry is set to put the rock back into ‘Roy Orbison’ as he takes to the stage to commemorate this legend in ‘The Roy Orbison Story’ In Concert.

Barry is joined on stage by the sensational guest pianist Boogie Williams as they present original material written but never sung by Roy Orbison and showcase elements of the symphonic orchestration first heard on the Hologram tour.

This top-class production also showcases chart busting hits originally made famous by Jerry Lee Lewis, Procol Harum, Del Shannon, ELO, Tom Petty, Chris Isaak, The Spencer Davis Group and culminates in a stunningly brilliant accolade as the whole cast comes together to pay homage to the original super group ‘The Traveling Wilburys.’

Barry Steele has been stunning audiences with his uncanny ability to recreate the vocal talents of the legendary Roy Orbison, winning rave reviews across the globe. His vocal talents are quite simply ‘True Identikit Brilliance.’

The Princess Theatre first opened its doors on Wednesday 7 June 1961. Top of the bill on the opening night were the late, great Tommy Cooper and the legendary Morecombe & Wise.  In 1963 The Beatles appeared live on stage singing the then newly released single “She Loves You” causing some hysteria in the town!

The Princess Theatre is South Devon’s largest theatre with a seating capacity of 1,491  Big musical productions that have thrilled our audiences include Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Chicago, Starlight Express, Rocky Horror, Cats, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Icons of the stage and screen Sir Roger Moore, Elaine Page, Joan Collins and the beloved Joan Rivers, have also graced our stage. Comedians Jimmy Carr, Alan Carr and Dawn French have performed here too and chart toppers Mumford & Sons, Jamie Cullum and Ronan Keating have included the theatre on their UK tours.
