Ambassadors Theatre

The Ambassadors Theatre opened on 5th June 1913. The theatre presented Eugene O'Neill's The Emperor Jones starring Paul Robeson, The Mask of Virtue in 1935 which saw the West End stage debut of a 22 year old Vivien Leigh and Spring Meeting in 1938 with Margaret Rutherford. Britain's longest running production The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie opened at The Ambassadors on 25th November 1952 and played here until its 21st Birthday in 1974 when it transferred next door to the larger St Martin's Theatre.

Nearest train station is Charing Cross (within 10 mins walk). The closest tube station is Leicester Square (5 mins walk), and the venue is also walkable from Covent Garden, Charing Cross, Tottenham Court Road, and Piccadilly Circus (10/15 mins walk).

By bus

Number 14, 19, 24, 29, 38, or 176, all stop near Cambridge Circus (2 minutes walk from the venue).

Security

ATG continues to make the safety and security of its customers and staff a priority. As such, please bear in mind that we will undertake bag checks, so recommend you leave extra time to avoid queues, and refrain from bringing suitcases, rucksacks and large bags into the Theatre.

Any hot and cold food may not be brought into the venue and will be confiscated. Hot beverages may also not be brought into the venue. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted to be brought into the venue and will be confiscated on the door by a manager, and returned at the end of the show.

Please note that the Ambassadors Theatre is a cashless venue and all transactions, including Box Office Sales, Bars, Merchandise and Concessions require payment by card.
