Leas Cliff Hall, Folkestone
With grateful thanks to the Folkestone & Hythe District Council, the orchestra has managed to secure the Leas Cliff Hall for their Diamond Anniversary Concert on Saturday 9th July 2022, with an exceptional violinist, Joo Yeon Sir who will be performing Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto with them.

Joo Yeon last performed (Prokofiev’s 1935 Violin Concerto) with Folkestone Symphony in November 2019, which gained this review: “A solo violin floats one of the most beautiful melodies of the 20th century into the vaulted heights of the Holy Trinity Church and a spell is cast by a young magician. Thirty or so minutes later everyone is saying, “we must get her back” (Peter Cobrin). That was the impact of this young Korean-born violinist. In 2017 Joo Yeon was identified as: “A Star of the Future” (The Guardian) and more recent reviews have described her as: “Exuberant …. Seductive …. with Bravura and Oodles of Personality” (The Strad).
Also in the programme is Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture and Elgar’s Enigma Variations. Do support your local orchestra, who will be playing back where they originated – and where they belong, in the town’s premiere music venue.
