Grand Opera House York
York Stage bring a fresh and fearless new production of this smash hit musical to the Grand Opera House York for the very first time. Director Nik Briggs returns to reimagine the story with real heart, raw emotion and the spark that have made Everybody’s Talking About Jamie a modern British favourite.

Inspired by a true story, the show follows sixteen-year-old Jamie New who doesn’t fit the mould of being a regular schoolboy, living in a council estate in Sheffield. With the support of his mum and his friends, he fights prejudice, finds his voice, and discovers the freedom of stepping into the spotlight on his own terms.
Expect an electrifying night of theatre.
The infectious pop score by Dan Gillespie Sells (lead singer-songwriter from The Feeling) and the sharp, funny writing by the BAFTA and Olivier award nominated Tom MacRae (Dr Who) are set to meet York Stage’s trademark honesty and punch in this brand new production which will dive deep into Jamie’s life, his struggles and the hope that drives him forward.
Book now to see Jamie as he arrives at the Grand Opera House York for the first time, with a vibrant cast, an acclaimed creative team and a thrilling new look.

Grand Opera House York

Not originally intended to be a theatre, the buildings that comprise the Grand Opera House York officially opened in 1902 with Little Red Riding Hood starring Florrie Ford. Since then it has been owned by FJ Butterworth, the Shepherd of Shambles and the India Pru Co. Ltd who spent £4,000,000 restoring the theatre to its former glory in 1987.
