It follows a group of British retirees who decide to outsource their retirement to a cheaper place and end up at the rundown Marigold Hotel in Jaipur, India, managed by the enthusiastic but inexperienced Sonny (Dev Patel). As they adjust to the unexpected conditions, the clashing personalities, and a different culture, Evelyn (Judi Dench), Douglas (Bill Nighy), Graham (Tom Wilkinson) and the other residents come to embrace this new chapter of life and relationships in India.
