Leas Cliff Hall, Folkestone
A special gala concert to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of HM The Queen.
Featuring an exciting programme of music for everyone - spanning over 100 glorious years. Including works by Walton, Rogers & Hammerstein, Bernstein, Vaughan Williams and many more in an eclectic mix of styles – Classical, Contemporary, Jazz, Pop and (of course) Martial! Fanfare Trumpets will be included, as will lots of ceremonial music, pomp and pageantry.
Guest ensemble, The Military Wives Choir Shorncliffe, will perform some emotionally charged songs and soloists from within the band will demonstrate their musical prowess.
The finale piece, Sir William Walton's rousing Coronation March Orb and Sceptre will be an extremely fitting conclusion to this concert. Composed for the Coronation in 1953, it is a sister work to his equality patriotic March Crown Imperial (written for the 1937 Coronation).
Prior to attending Westminster Abbey on Coronation Day, Winston Churchill declared: 'We love her as our Queen, and we love her for Herself' a tribute which shall be wholeheartedly echoed throughout the entire concert programme.
