Working at ATG in Software Engineering

Small teams

The total number of software engineers at ATG is growing, and even though we're a close group, we still split into smaller teams in order to focus on each part of the platform.

Our two main teams are Catalogue and Checkout. The Catalogue team is responsible for the homepage, venue and show listings, and focuses on helping the customer find the right content for them. Our Checkout team is responsible for what we call "calendar to confirmation" – allowing customers to pick the right night, find the best seats, and pay in a quick and easy way.

We have other supporting teams within Engineering such as the Account team who are working on some great new features for our members, and if you're feeling like a snack at one of our venues, you may use the application developed by our Digital F&B team which allows you to pick and order drinks and food to be delivered right to your seat.

Our Services team is back-end focused and looks to deliver the shared services used throughout the platform by all of the other teams.

Ways of working

Post-pandemic we have embraced hybrid working, with many engineers taking advantage of the new arrangements to find some balance in their lives. We have a great office space in central London – right in the heart of the West End's "Theatreland" – where you'll find the Product and Design teams and many other groups. However, as a hybrid member of the team, you might choose to work from home and come into the office on sprint handover days and look forward to our quarterly planning sessions to catch up with the full team face-to-face.

Along the way, we have a lot of time for social activities online, ad hoc gaming, tech chats with colleagues, and as many Slack huddles as you want to help you feel connected to the rest of your team.

Our days start with team focused stand-ups and our two week sprints end with a relaxing retro. In between are scattered various refinement sessions where we work alongside the Product and Design teams.

We focus a lot on the engineers and the engineering experience at ATG. We recognise that you have plenty of choices with where to work, and we are proud to have people come and spend time with us.

We want to use our time on what matters to our engineers, which means doing the right thing with our technology choices, and making sure everyone has the time to enhance their careers.

Our engineers get to work with a team that's super-supportive, on a platform that's going global. We work with great content – from Disney's The Lion King in London to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway.

We're keen to use the latest technologies and methodologies and even more eager to hear from every one of our engineers about what they want to work with. Come learn some new technologies at ATG and contribute to our expanding global platform at the same time.
