Creative Learning at Milton Keynes Theatre aims to deliver a varied programme of theatrical events, projects, workshops and classes for all ages in our local community. From weekly classes, to show inspired workshops, events for schools plus our popular school holiday projects, we create experiences for everyone!

Schools and Community Groups

We offer a wide range of workshops giving an insight into a specific production or a theatrical skill, from directing to makeup and everything in between! Multiple workshops can be organised for larger groups and can be combined with a backstage tour and performance.

If you are looking for an opportunity to learn about drama in a creative, fun and supportive environment, our Youth Theatre is for you! Areas we may explore during a term include Mask, Physical Theatre, Mime, Script work, Devising, Movement, Voice and much more…

Special Projects

MK’s Young Dancer of the year 2019 in partnership with MK Gallery 

Calling all young dancers! After a major expansion project, MK Gallery will reopen in spring 2019. To celebrate, we’re working in partnership with MK Gallery looking for the city’s most exciting young dancers, choreographers and all round movers and shakers.

Competition theme: Transformation

To alter; to revamp; to revolutionise - these are just a few words that describe what it means to transform. MK Gallery is transforming and their appearance altering as they create new and exciting spaces for everyone to enjoy aiming to revolutionise perceptions of culture and the arts. We invite you to create a dance that shares with us what Transformation means to you.

To enter, please submit one digital video not exceeding 1 minute in length accompanied by a completed entry form. An electronic version of the entry form is available at www.mkgallery.org. The deadline for entry is Monday 25 February 2019.

To enter you must be Aged 7 – 19 years and living in Milton Keynes.

Work In Theatre

In addition, we run a Work In Theatre course taking place at the start of the Summer holidays, designed to explore the options available to young people interested in a career in theatre. During the course, you will have the chance to gain hands-on experience in one of the region's most popular theatre, in areas such as Front of House, Box Office, Events Management, Backstage, some technical and the opportunity to participate in workshops such as Communication Skills, Theatre Marketing and Theatrical Make Up. The intention is to give you a broad understanding of the mechanisms of a receiving house theatre, the roles available within the industry and a taster of the reality of the roles in order for you to fully understand what goes on behind the scenes.
