In a truly illustrious career that began under the stage name Gerry Dorsey in the ’50s but exploded internationally when he became known as Engelbert Humperdinck in 1965, Engelbert has sold over 150 million records worldwide, received four Grammy nominations, a Golden Globe for Entertainer of the Year, 63 gold and 24 platinum records and is one of only a handful of artists with a star on both the Hollywood Las Vegas Walks of Fame. To this day, Engelbert has remained a global star, and he was appointed an MBE in 2021 Birthday Honours List.
Engelbert says, “I am so incredibly happy to have announced my new UK tour for September. Looking forward to seeing everyone and remember… I LOVE YOU!”
Engelbert is best known, of course, for mega-hit ‘Release Me [And Let Me Love Again]’, which was a No.1 in the UK but also a huge hit in the US. This charismatic performer has enjoyed eight huge UK Top Ten hits including of course ‘The Last Waltz’ itself, as well as ‘There Goes My Everything’, ‘Am I That Easy To Forget’, ‘A Man Without Love (Quando M’Innamoro)’, ‘Les Bicyclettes de Belsize’ and ‘The Way It Used To Be’.
Opera House Manchester
Originally The New Theatre, it opened on Boxing Day, 1912. It went through several iterations, being renamed once before becoming the Opera House in 1920. It's also been used for different functions; as a cinema in WW2, then a bingo hall before reopening as a theatre again in 1984. Since, it has hosted magnificent shows like Barnum and Phantom of the Opera.
