Jason Manford

Jason Manford Overview

Jason Manford is an English writer, comedian, actor, radio and television presenter. He began his stand-up career in 1999 at the age of 17 when he filled in for a performer who didn’t arrive at the Buzz Comedy Club in Manchester. Six gigs later he was crowned The City Life North West Comedian of the Year. After winning several smaller awards, Jason was nominated for the Perrier Award in Edinburgh in 2005 for his show ‘Urban Legends’ and went on to tour internationally. His second National tour, ‘Off On Tour We Go’, started in July 2010 and finished at London’s O2 Arena in November 2011.

Jason began hosting a radio breakfast show on XFM Manchester between 2007 and 2008. In 2009 he hosted ‘Jason Manford and Friends’ on BBC Radio 2, which brought the best comedians from the 2009 Edinburgh Fringe to Radio 2 listeners. 2011 has seen Jason cover Danny Baker’s 5Live show on the August bank holiday weekend.

Jason’s  first major television appearance was as a guest on Jimmy Carr’s Channel 4 panel show 8 out of 10 cats. In 2007 he replaced Dave Spikey as Team Captain and continued in the role until 2011. Jason has made numerous other television appearances: he has presented Sky Three’s ‘Premier League Allstars Extra Time’ and Channel 4’s ‘Tonightly’, and performed at the Royal Variety Performance, on ‘Channel 4’s Comedy Gala’, ITV1’s ‘The Comedy Annual 2010’, BBC1’s ‘Would I Lie to You’, and regularly on ITV1’s ‘Odd One In’ with Peter Andre. In 2011 he started hosting his own comedy variety show ‘Comedy Rocks’ on ITV1, won ‘Born to Shine’, and hosted comedy talent show ‘Show Me The Funny’ and an episode of BBC1’s ‘Live at the Apollo’. He published his autobiography ‘Brung Up Proper’ in September 2011.
