Starring the Olivier award-winning actress Tamsin Greig (Episodes, Green Wing, Jumpy, God of Carnage), Haydn Gwynne (The Audience, Billy Elliot) and Jérôme Pradon (Les Miserables, Pacific Overtures), the smart musical comedy Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown opened to critical acclaim.

On the streets of Madrid, a city pulsing with art, industry, and passion, Pepa’s world is unravelling. Her lover leaves her. And then she meets his wife. And his son. And his new girlfriend. Meanwhile, Pepa’s best friend is tangled up in her own romantic crisis with a suspected criminal, leaving Pepa with only the taxi driver to help navigate the Gran Vía ahead.

Venue Access Information

There are 3 steps into foyer through double doors - a ramp is available. The Box Office is to your left. There are no further steps into Stalls seating, 28 steps to the Dress Circle and 82 steps to the Upper Circle. Staircases have highlights and handrails.  There is hard flooring in the foyer for wheeled traffic. The theatre is open 45 minutes before the performance, and the auditorium 30 minutes before. There are wheelchair spaces at rows G and J in the Stalls - a companion can sit in next to the customer. There are a further 6 transfer spaces available. Scooters & wheelchairs will be stored in rear stalls. There are bars in the foyer, basement, dress and upper circles.

There is currently no Sound Amplification System in place at the venue. Please contact The Playhouse directly for more information on accessible performances. The venue can be reached on 0207 925 7730.

Guide dogs are permitted in the auditorium at the end of a row in the stalls. Staff are happy to dog sit during the performance.

There is an access toilet in the foyer, adapted for wheelchair use. Non-adapted toilets are in the Basement Bar, Dress Circle, and Upper Circle.

Madrid, the first track from David Yazbek and Jeffrey Lane’s score for the new stage adaptation of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown has been released, capturing the humour, colour and chaos of Pedro Almodóvar’s Oscar-nominated film. Powered by a live onstage band and boasting an international cast that includes Ricardo Afonso, Marianna Benedict, Tamsin Greig, Hadyn Gwynne, Rebecca McKinnis, Sarah Moyle, Haydn Oakley, Jerome Pradon, Anna Skellern and Willemijn Verkaik, this smart new musical comedy is directed by Tony Award-winner Bartlett Sher.
