Why go and see it?

“One of the most successful musicals of all time” (BBC News), and the winner of more than 100 global awards, Wicked is already the 11th longest-running production in West End history.

With music and lyrics by multi-Oscar, Golden Globe and Grammy Award winner Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Pippin, The Prince of Egypt, The Hunchback of Notre Dame) and a book by Tony Award-nominee Winnie Holzman, Wicked is currently the 11th longest running show in West End history, having been seen at the Apollo Victoria Theatre London by over twelve million people.

Two-time Tony-winner Joe Mantello directs this “devilishly clever spin on The Wizard of Oz” (The Daily Telegraph), with musical staging by Tony-winner Wayne Cilento.

One of the West End’s true modern classics.
- Metro
An absolute blast. Packed with wit, storming songs and beautiful costumes.
- The Guardian
An emotional and unforgettable experience.
- Steve Allen, LBC

Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked imagines a beguiling backstory to the lives of L. Frank Baum’s beloved characters, and reveals the magic that shaped the destinies of two unlikely friends on their remarkable journey to becoming Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

After the continuing success of the Broadway run, two US tours, three UK tours, and countless international productions, Wicked recently celebrated seventeen triumphant years at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. This essential West End musical is the winner of over 100 major international awards, including three Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards, a Grammy Award and ten theatregoer voted WhatsOnStage Awards (including three for ‘Best West End Show’).

Wicked stars Alexia Khadime (Elphaba), Lucy St. Louis (Glinda), Ryan Reid (Fiyero), Sophie-Louise Dann (Madame Morrible), Mark Curry (The Wizard), Caitlin Anderson (Nessarose), Joe Thompson-Oubari (Boq), Simeon Truby (Doctor Dillamond), Amy Webb (Standby for Elphaba), Lisa-Anne Wood (Standby for Glinda), Yuki Abe, Kofi Aidoo-Appiah, Conor Ashman, Jessica Aubrey, Joshua Clemetson, Fergus Dale, Effie Rae Dyson, Nicola Espallardo, Danny Fogarty, Ross Harmon, Kate Leiper, Nick Len, Jemima Loddy, Joshua Lovell, Paddy Joe Martin, Millie Mayhew, Harry Mills, Daniel Parrott, Aiesha Naomi Pease, Jeanie Ryan, Natalie Spriggs, James Titchener, Micaela Todd, Christine Tucker, Jaydon Vijn and Taela Yeomans-Brown.

Now heading into its 90th year the theatre has transformed into one of the leading West End venues hosting musicals such as The Sound of Music with Petula Clark, Camelot with Richard Harris and Fiddler on the Roof with Topol.

In 1984 Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical extravaganza Starlight Express opened and considered the Apollo Victoria its home for many years. In 2006 Wicked, the smash-hit Broadway show opened and continues to go from strength to strength.
