The Railway Children

THE RAILWAY CHILDREN – NOW BOOKING UNTIL 8 JANUARY 2017!

A truly unique theatrical experience, now in its second steamtastic year, The Railway Children is a must-see event for all ages.

This stunning Olivier award-winning adaptation of E. Nesbit’s classic novel The Railway Children is currently playing at London's King's Cross Theatre. Set in a new, purpose built 1,000 seat venue, this breath-taking show features a stage built around a real train track, and a beautiful 60-tonne locomotive that steams into the theatre.

Steeped in nostalgia and charm, re-live the heart-felt moment Bobbie gasps ‘Daddy my, Daddy’ and join Bobbie, Peter and Phyllis on the adventure of a lifetime as they tell the story of how they became The Railway Children.

Don’t miss your chance to see ‘One of London Theatre’s all time classics’ (Metro)

FAQs

Where is the theatre?
The entrance to the theatre is behind King’s Cross Station, on the corner of Goods Way and King’s Boulevard (N1C 4UR). Both King’s Cross Underground and St Pancras International are a short walk from the venue.

Is there a cloakroom?
Unfortunately there is not a cloakroom on site. Audience members will need to keep all belongings with them, and store them under their seat if necessary. For this reason very large bags or suitcases will not be permitted. There is an unattended ‘Buggy Park’, where audience members can leave push-chairs and strollers. Security may occasionally conduct random bag searches; we thank you for your cooperation.

Is the show suitable for small children?
The Railway Children is recommended for anyone aged two and over. Children under two years of age will not be admitted. All children aged 2 or older need their own ticket. Children under eleven must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

My child will sit on my lap. Do I still need a ticket for them?
Yes. All people wishing to enter the venue must have a ticket.

What time should I arrive?
The venue opens 1 hour before the performance. You will be able to take your seats approximately 25 to 30 minutes before each show. Please leave time to collect your tickets.

What will happen if I am late for the performance?
Latecomers will be admitted at the earliest suitable point. We cannot admit anybody during the first twenty minutes of the show.

What if I need to leave the auditorium during the performance?
Staff will assist you if you wish to leave the auditorium. If you do leave the auditorium for any reason, you may need to wait until the next suitable point to be re-admitted.

What is the theatre like?
The King’s Cross Theatre is a brand new, purpose built venue. The 1000-seat auditorium is exactly like a normal indoor theatre, with comfortable padded seats. Seats are allocated, and will be on one of two platforms on either side of the track. The theatre is temperature controlled; it will be heated in the winter and air-conditioned in the summer.

Will there be bars, cafes and shops?
King’s Cross Theatre has a bar with a full range of drinks, including a wide range of soft drinks, teas and coffee. We also have a wide range of snacks available. Drinks and snacks may be taken into the auditorium, but glass and cans are not permitted.

How long is the show?
The running time is approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes, including a twenty minute interval.

Can I take photographs or video inside the theatre?
For the safety of performers and the enjoyment of all audience members, photography and filming or any kind are not permitted in the auditorium.

Where can I park?
The nearest car park (which has spaces available for Blue Badge) holders is at St Pancras International, Pancras Road, N1C 4QP (access from Euston Rd, as Pancras Road is one way). For more information please call 0845 241 8215 or visit www.stpancras.com/maps/parking - or check our website for other car parks in the area.

Can coaches drop off outside the theatre?
Please note that coaches can not pull up and wait directly outside the venue on Goods Way – they will be asked to move immediately, and may be fined by local authorities.
The nearest place to pull in & drop off is York Way. If drivers want to wait during the show the closest coach park is at Regents Park.

Where can I buy or pick up tickets on site?
There is an on-site box office where you can buy or collect tickets. You can also buy tickets by calling 0844 871 7604, or via the website (www.railwaychildrenlondon.com).

Is there disabled access?
All of the on-site facilities at King’s Cross Theatre are fully accessible, and we have fully trained staff available to offer any additional assistance. If think you might need any assistance, please let us know when you book your tickets, or when you arrive at the theatre.  Customers are very welcome to take their assistance dogs into the auditorium, however we advise that due to the many special effects, including very loud sound effects, it may be preferable for staff to look after them in the foyer, and bring them to customers on request. Please enquire when booking if you would like our full access guide.

Do you have a hearing assistance device?
There is an audio induction (loop) system, which works in all areas off the auditorium. This will provide an amplified feed to those who have a ‘t’ setting on their hearing aid.
