Production shot

Featuring incredible live music performances, this hugely entertaining Rock & Roll spectacular blends classic gold hits from the 50s, 60s & 70s, with bags of hilarious comedy!

Originally established on the cabaret circuit in the late 1980's, the show began playing regional theatres in the early 1990's. Now it performs over 200 shows a year to capacity audiences across the UK. Trevor Payne (who first created the show back in 1986!) still directs, produces and stars in the production today. Trevor rewrites all the material for the show for each year, and over six months is taken in planning and preparation. Complete with stunning costumes and incredible live music performances, That’ll Be The Day is the golden age of popular music… REVIVED!

Celebrating an entire era of timeless nostalgia, the production is well known for its ability to make audiences return time and time again for a new experience. Now in its 33rd year of consecutive national touring, That’ll Be The Day is living proof that Rock & Roll will never die!

Edinburgh Playhouse started life as a large, single screen cinema in 1929. By 1973, profits were low and the building was sold and threatened with demolition. In 1980, the building was sold again and reopened as a fully functional theatre. Since then, the Playhouse has been host to some of the world's biggest musicals, including Les Misérables and Mamma Mia.
