Why go and see it?

The Alexandra Theatre's Stage Experience showcases the outstanding talents of West Midlands young performers in a major production supported by a professional creative team.

The Alexandra Theatre annual Stage Experience production returns with Singin’ In The Rain! Following the record-breaking productions of Boogie Nights in 2018, West Side Story in 2017, and Grease in 2016, Stage Experience 2019 will once again showcase the outstanding talents of West Midlands young performers in a major production supported by a professional creative team.

Production shot

Singin’ in the Rain is set in the roaring ’20s and silent movie stars are the biggest names in the world. Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont have it all, but behind the scenes things aren't always as they appear on the big screen. With the new phenomenon of the 'talking pictures' taking Hollywood by storm, Lina's squeaky voice might be the end of her career and with a talented young chorus girl set to steal Don’s heart, things are about to change in Hollywood forever.

Screenplay by Betty Comden and Adolph Green

Songs by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed

Based on the classic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film, by special arrangement with Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Inc.

Music Published by EMI, all rights administered by Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC

(Original Movie Choreography by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen)

Please be aware that the first three rows in the Stalls may be splashed by rain during part of the performance. This is a Stage Experience Production.
