At the end of the day, we will do a mini performance to friends and family on our mainstage.

Meet our artists Genna Allan and Fiona Linton:

GENNA ALLAN

Genna is Edinburgh Playhouse’s Associate Artist for our Young Ambassador programme. Genna is a 2022 graduate of BA Honours Acting with Creative Enterprises from Queen Margaret University. Genna is an actor, assistant director, movement director and workshop facilitator, working in a mixture of professional and community contexts. She is part of the Wonder Fools Youth Board Cohort 2024-2025 and is currently writing her own play in collaboration with the Citizens Theatre. Genna primarily works in a creative learning context where she delivers a wide range of workshops to young people. Genna started working in theatre through a Care Experienced Training Bursary with Perth Theatre and Concert hall and from there she has developed a wide range of skills to deliver workshops.

Although designed as a variety theatre, the Edinburgh Playhouse opened in 1929 as Scotland’s second largest cinema. It was hugely successful and remained so until the downturn in cinema attendance in the early 70s. When it closed in November 1973, the building was at risk of demolition, but following several years of public ‘save the Playhouse’ campaigns it was eventually saved. It reopened in 1980 as the fully functional theatre it was always intended to be. Since then, it has hosted some of the world's biggest music and stand-up comedy acts including, Elton John, The Who, Nick Cave, Kevin Bridges and Tim Minchin and international hit musicals such as The Phantom of the Opera, We Will Rock You, Wicked, Matilda and Disney’s The Lion King.
