The Sunderland Empire Theatre Summer School is open to young people aged 8-18 years, of all abilities, who will work with vocal, dance and drama professionals, as well as learn skills in theatrical make-up, costume design and even try their hand at working backstage!
Plus, an exclusive Hairspray masterclass from North East actress Katie Brace, who recently performed in the lead role of Tracy Turnblad in the UK tour of the spectacular musical production.
The Theatre Summer School will take place from Mon 1 – Fri 5 Aug (10am – 3pm) and is priced £150.

Vesta Tilley laid the foundation stone of what is now the Sunderland Empire on 29 September 1906 and took to the stage on 1 July 1907 to officially declare the theatre open. Masterminded by two of the contemporary heads of British theatre, Edward Moss and Oswald Stoll, the Sunderland Empire Theatre has undergone many changes since it opened but remains the North East’s premier entertainment venue.
