This special event, “Boro Legends – Magic Midfielders”, hosted by The Red, promises to be a night to remember for football fans and the local community alike. Attendees will be able to relive some of Middlesbrough FC’s most memorable moments and hear first-hand accounts from three of the club’s legendary figures. Fans attending will also have the unique opportunity of joining the players on-stage to participate in football themed competitions.
Fan favourite Juninho played 148 times for the Boro across three spells at the Riverside Stadium and is fondly remembered for his sublime skills on the ball and even had a song released by fans in his honour.
Affectionately known as "The Little Fella" during his time at Middlesbrough, Juninho shared his excitement about returning to his second home: “I can’t wait to be back on Teesside and meet the fans. The way they welcomed me to Middlesbrough was incredible, it’s in my heart. I’ve always held a place in my heart for the people and for the town. The event is going to bring back so many good memories, it is going to be so special for me too. See you soon.”
Paul Merson joined Middlesbrough from Arsenal in a move that caught many by surprise. His time playing under Bryan Robson culminated in featuring in the 1998 League Cup Final, where Boro took Chelsea to extra time at Wembley before losing 2-0.
After first arriving on Teesside in 1992, Craig Hignett still lives in the area. The adopted Teessider completes the trio on stage and is the Boro voice of “The 3 Legends” radio show across the North East.
This is a rare chance to see Juninho, Paul Merson, and Craig Hignett together on stage, reminiscing about their time at Middlesbrough FC and engaging in lively banter that is sure to entertain.
Boro fans living abroad will not miss out on the big night, as the event will also be televised live and made available via a live video stream with more information to follow.
