In support of Surfers Against Sewage, who have done some sterling work to help protect Britain’s waterways, Big Noise Chorus will bring you an uplifting night of harmony and hope and inform you of ways that you can take action if you wish.
The Big Noise Chorus was established in 2009 and has grown to become a network of community choirs based in Exeter, Torquay, and Ashburton. We perform many different musical genres, but there is no audition process so anyone can apply to join regardless of experience. That said, we’re pretty darn good if we may so ourselves!
There is also a charitable arm to the Big Noise Chorus and as of February 2024, it had raised over £112,000 for charity. A retiring collection will be held for Surfers Against Sewage to support their excellent work.
Supporting the Big Noise Chorus will be local rock band Draculin.
Draculin who are currently touring with their “The Bats Out of Hell” concerts will be playing iconic rock classics plus some of their own compositions.
Also appearing are Tess & the d’Urbervilles a lively acappella group from Exeter.
The Big Noise Chorus is sponsored by Stagecoach Bus Company.
Princess Theatre, Torquay
The Princess Theatre first opened its doors on Wednesday 7 June 1961. Top of the bill on the opening night were the late, great Tommy Cooper and the legendary Morecombe & Wise. In 1963 The Beatles appeared live on stage singing the then newly released single “She Loves You” causing some hysteria in the town!
The Princess Theatre is South Devon’s largest theatre with a seating capacity of 1,491. Big musical productions that have thrilled our audiences include Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Chicago, Starlight Express, Rocky Horror, Cats, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Icons of the stage and screen Sir Roger Moore, Elaine Page, Joan Collins and the beloved Joan Rivers, have also graced our stage. Comedians Jimmy Carr, Alan Carr and Dawn French have performed here too and chart toppers Mumford & Sons, Jamie Cullum and Ronan Keating have included the theatre on their UK tours.
