Fresh from winning the 2021 Children’s Book of the Year at the British Book Awards for the first in the Adventures on Trains series The Highland Falcon Thief, M. G. Leonard and Sam Sedgman invite you and all the family for a fun, live event at The Theatre Royal Brighton at 5:00pm on Monday 28th February to celebrate the publication of the fourth book in the series, Danger at Dead Man’s Pass. We also welcome a very special guest, the series illustrator Elisa Paganelli, who will be live drawing throughout the event!

Adventures on Trains - A Special Author Event for Families

In this special event packed with interesting facts about trains, railways, mystery stories and how to be a good detective, Maya and Sam will also talk about their adventures writing together and what goes into researching their books. The authors will reveal how they come up with the ideas for the books and share their passion for the wonderful world of railways explored by Harrison Beck, the drawing detective, and his travel writing uncle, Nathanial Bradshaw. You’ll be treated to a dramatic reading from the newest adventure Danger at Dead Man’s Pass, which takes Hal and Nat to the peak of the Harz Mountain in Germany to solve the mystery of a deadly family curse, a demonstration of the science behind a steam engine, a question-and-answer session, and an exclusive teaser about the fifth book, Sabotage on the Solar Express, coming in February 2022!

At the end of the event M. G. Leonard, Sam Sedgman and Elisa Paganelli will be in the foyer to meet young readers and sign books.
