Since its first appearance at the Royal Court Theatre in June 1973, the Rocky Horror Show has become the world’s favourite Rock ‘n’ Roll musical. It has been performed worldwide for nearly 40 years in over 20 countries and has been translated into more than 10 languages. It was transformed into a film in 1975 called The Rocky Horror Picture Show’. This film adaptation took over $135 million at the Box Office and is still shown in cinemas around the world nearly 37 years after its premiere, making it the longest running theatrical release in film history. To celebrate its 40th anniversary, a fresh new production is back for a year-long UK National Tour!
Strictly Come Dancing finalist and Tracy Beaker star Dani Harmer joins Dancing on Ice and Eastenders’ Sam Attwater as squeaky clean sweethearts Brad and Janet who embark on an adventure they’ll never forget! With the scandalous Frank N Furter played by West End stalwart Oliver Thornton and star of stage and screen Philip Franks as the narrator, this musical extravaganza will feature all of its famous classics including Science Fiction / Double Feature, Sweet Transvestite, Damn It Janet and, of course, the timeless floor-filler, The Time Warp.
The Rocky Horror Show tells the story of engaged sweethearts Brad and Janet who are forced to seek refuge in a castle one dark and stormy night. Unbeknown to them the castle is home to Frank N Furter, a mad, bad and very sexy transvestite from Transylvania and his group of party loving misfits including the rippling muscle bound Rocky and the vivacious Magenta. Directed by Christopher Luscombe, the Rocky Horror Show is a guaranteed party, which famously combines science-fiction, horror, comedy and music and encourages audience participation meaning, of course, getting dressed in your most outrageous fancy dress and the ladies are welcome to join the men in donning stilettos and corsets!
