Following a magical pantomime season, First Family Entertainment and Ambassador Theatre Group are making some special dreams come true!
Over the 2014/15 pantomime season First Family Entertainment (FFE) raised a massive £77,137.59 for national charity When You Wish Upon A Star.
In ten theatres across the country, bucket collections took place after every pantomime performance to raise money for the appeal. The aim was to raise enough money to grant the wishes of children living with life-threatening illnesses by sending them and their families on their own magical fairy tale adventure to Disneyworld in Florida.
The enormous sum raised means that ten families will be able to make the special trip across the Atlantic to meet their favourite fairy tale characters on an adventure that they will never forget. Part of the money raised will also be spent sending children who are unable to make such a long distance journey, to Disneyland in Paris for an equally big adventure.
The charity, who are based in the Midlands and has been running for almost 25 years are absolutely delighted with the money raised.
Barbara White, the founder of the charity said of the achievement, 'Thank you to Family First Entertainment and ATG for this amazing amount of funds which will enable us to fulfil the wishes of at least 11 families for their once in a lifetime trip to Disneyland in Florida. This will create life long memories for these families which is so important. Thanks to everyone involved. I am extremely grateful.'
Members of the audience attending the pantomime at The New Victoria Theatre Woking, The Kings Theatre Glasgow, Milton Keynes Theatre, Richmond Theatre, Manchester Opera House, Bristol Hippodrome, New Wimbledon Theatre, Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, Liverpool Empire and the Regent Theatre, Stoke-on-Trent all gave generously to the cause. The charity will concentrate on granting the wishes of families from each of those local areas.
Kevin Wood, Chief Executive for First Family Entertainment said, 'We are absolutely delighted at First Family with the exceptional figure raised for our nominated charities over the pantomime season. We would like to extend a huge thank you to each and every person who has been a part of raising such an exceptional amount of money for these very worthwhile causes. Our audience members, our theatre staff, and the cast, crew and management from each of our pantomimes - it has been a real team effort.'
First Family Entertainment also arranged some special pantomime visits for the Wish families. The children and their families were treated to a show, a backstage tour and a meet and greet with cast members in Manchester, Bristol, Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool and Stoke.
In addition to the money raised for When You Wish Upon A Star, bucket collections were also held for each theatre’s nominated local charity, and for the MRI Scanner Appeal at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The total amount raised by FFE and ATG over the 2014/15 pantomime season exceeded £100,000.
