The show recreates the bright lights of 1930s New York City with the rich sound of Leonard Bernstein’s magnificent music.

Following a run at The Lowry in Salford where it has received rave reviews, this revival tour of Wonderful Town is directed by The Royal Exchange Theatre Artistic Director Braham Murray OBE. Set to a superb score by legendary American composer Leonard Bernstein (West Side Story), the show has received countless awards since its premiere in 1953 including the prestigious Tony Award for Best Musical.

Connie Fisher, star of The Sound of Music and of the BBC’s How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?, plays aspiring writer Ruth Sherwood who arrives in New York with her beautiful younger sister Eileen. The indomitable pair meet an array of colourful characters along the way, creating chaos at every turn in their search for romance, success and a free meal from Walgreen’s deli.

Joining Connie playing her younger sister, Eileen, is Lucy Van Gasse. Lucy, awarded the Sir Geraint Evans Award for Outstanding Performance made her professional debut in the West End starring in the original cast of Love Never Dies and Double Olivier Award nominee Michael Xavier whose credits include Love Story and Phantom of the Opera, stars as Bob Baker.
