Annie Get Your Gun Wild West Fun day event goes down a storm on the Wimbledon Piazza

Approved by ATG's PR & Communications Officer, David Bradbury

New Wimbledon Theatre in conjunction with Love Wimbledon hosted an extremely successful fun day event on the Wimbledon Piazza on Tuesday 12 August.  We had a fantastic turnout for the event, in spite of the ever-changing weather, and hundreds of locals attended to watch the fantastic cast of Annie Get Your Gun perform There’s No Business Like Show Business.  This amazing performance included West End leading lady Emma Williams and the ensemble for the show which will be heading to the theatre this September.

In addition to the three performances, the event also included fun free games for all of the family. At the event there was a Wild West shoot out, a cactus hoopla and a bucking bronco which was really popular with children and adults alike!

The Wild West fun day was a great day’s holiday fun for local families, and also a chance for the people of Wimbledon to get a sneak peek at the TONY award winning version of Irving Berlin’s classic musical Annie Get Your Gun which runs at New Wimbledon Theatre from the 9-13 September, starring Emma Williams as Annie Oakley, Jason Donovan as Frank Butler and Norman Pace as Buffalo Bill.

With timeless classic songs including There’s No Business Like Show Business and Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better, Annie Get Your Gun tells the legendary story of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West female sharpshooter, Annie Oakley and her romance with fellow sharpshooter, Frank Butler. When Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show comes to town, it only takes one glance for sharp-shooting country girl Annie to fall head over heels for its star marksman. Both have truly met their match, revealing their competitive natures as they vie for best shot – and each other’s hearts.

Howard Panter and The Ambassador Theatre Group are thrilled to be producing this version on tour across the UK, bringing this much loved musical to a new generation of theatre-goers, with a brilliantly talented cast.
