Peter Pan sets sail for Stoke-on-Trent Panto Launch!

By Emily Armstrong

Yo ho ho, me hearties! Grab a bottle of your favourite tipple (mine is a cloudy lemonade) and settle down, for we have a tale to tell ye!

Arr! T’was Wednesday 7 October 2015 when Peter Pan, Wendy, Captain Hook and Mr Smee came to launch the Regent Theatre 2015 Panto, Peter Pan! This year is a very special year, it being Jonny Wilkes’ 10th anniversary in Regent Theatre pantomime.

The day started early, with Jonny Wilkes (Mr Smee) and Christian Patterson (Captain Hook) commandeering the Signal 1 Breakfast show from 6.45am until 7.30am. Then they hosted the Signal 2 Breakfast radio show from 7.30am until 8am, and for good measure, they went back to Signal 1 to host some more of the breakfast show there!

Once Jonny and Christian had feasted on a hearty breakfast of oatcakes and tea, Peter Pan (Shannon Lane) and Wendy (Yasmin Wood) swooped into the Regent Theatre and, altogether, they went down to China Gardens to hop aboard a beauty of a boat and set sail on the seven seas of Stoke!

Whilst there, the cast had their photos taken and even recorded a video – make sure to give it a watch! Once this was all done, Jonny and Christian visited BBC Radio Stoke to talk to James Watt all about Christmas, Peter Pan and cranberry sauce. All of this excitement built up quite an appetite, so the cast stopped to have a bit of lunch!

After an already busy day, Jonny and Christian then met the press and had interviews until the end of the day! They did, however, have time to create a plate design each to kick-start our Design a Plate competition in association with Freeport Talke and Emma Bridgewater – if you want to get arty and join, click here for more details!
