One week to go!

By Becky Martin

Brace yourselves panto fans, we have a festive frenzy on our hands!!!

The foyers have been decorated, the venue Christmas Tree has been lit, the cafe's festive menu is up and running and rehearsals are  in full swing! Yes that's right, there is just one week to go until Sleeping Beauty opens!

So what's been happening in our rehearsal rooms? Costume fittings, choreography, song practise and line-learning. The cast are also getting to grips with the props they'll be using and perfecting their stage directions so all will  be running like a  smoothly turning spinningwheel by opening night.

You are in for treat this year - we witnessed the most wicked baddie emerge from Anita Dobson yesterday afternoon in rehearsals, the director almost had to ask her to tone down her evilness for fear of upsetting our young  panto friends, but fear not Chester the Jester is armed with plenty of gags to brighten the mood, and as for our Prince and Sleeping Beauty - their love scene is sooo beautiful you may be needing to reach for your Kleenex!

Keep an eye out for future blogs panto pals - we'll be taking you behind the scenes into the land of technical early next week, and trust us, it's a whole different world. Backcloths, lighting, scenery and sound desks - it's gadget central!
