History of New Wimbledon TheatreBy Shiona Walker
The New Wimbledon Theatre is a bona fide oldie (it celebrated its 100th birthday in 2010) and beautiful to boot. It's got everything you could want from a theatre: with stunning architecture and a glorious Piano Bar, its corridors are rife with paranormal activity and weird and wonderful tales, and it's at the very heart of the Wimbledon community. It also has a history of entertaining the great and the good: Eddie Izzard and Sir Ian McKellen, to name but a couple, have graced its stage, while Winston Churchill paid a visit back in the 1940s when his daughter played in Gaslight.
