Matthew J Henry started off his stage career playing Simba and Swing in Julie Taymor’s West End production of Disney’s Lion King (2003). He then performed in Cameron Mackintosh’s Miss Saigon (2004), Saturday Night Fever (2005), and played various roles in Avenue Q (2006). In 2008 he played Ivan and Melvin in The Harder They Come at Stratford East, and then appeared in a short film entitled Hammered. 2009 saw him play Hud in Hair at the English Theatre Frankfurt, Benny in The Frontline at Shakespeare’s Globe, and a soldier in the film Gulliver's Travels. The year culminated with him gaining the part of Sammy Davis Jr in The Rat Pack Live From Las Vegas, with which he stayed until 2010. After appearing in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe with Theatre Royal Bath Productions, in 2011 he gained the lead part of Gary Coleman on Avenue Q’s National Tour.
