Marie Claire Breen is a soprano singer with extensive experience on the operatic and concert platform. She trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, winning the Norma Grieg prize for French Song, The Governors Recital Prize and The Hugh S. Roberton prize for Scots Song.
Marie Claire made her BBC Proms debut in 2010 performing Serenade to Music with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Other career highlights include performing for HRH Prince of Wales at St James’ Palace and recording a series of Burns songs for BBC Radio Scotland’s Classics Unwrapped show.
As a Scottish Opera Emerging Artist, between the years 2010 and 2012 Breen has been cast in a number of prestigious roles, including Vixen in The Cunning Little Vixen, Venus in Orpheus in the Underworld, Paggio in Rigoletto, and Gretel’s cover in Hansel and Gretel. Other operatic performances include War and Peace, Ariadne auf Naxos and Le Nozze di Figaro. She has been commissioned to work with some of Scotland’s most exciting new composers, and in 2010 she created the role of the Daughter in Gareth Williams’ opera The Lost Piece.Read Less
