Kevin R McNally is a stage and screen actor, best known for playing Gibbs in each of the four Pirates of the Carribean films (between 2002 and 2010). Other film credits include High Heels Low Lifes (2000), the part of the Prime Minister in Johnny English (2002), Buquet in The Phantom of the Opera (2004), Dead Cool (2004), Mike Tinsley in Woody Allen’s Scoop (2006), Charles Davis in The Murder of Princess Diana (2007) and, most recently in 2011, Harold Smith in In the Interests of the Nations, and Maddux in The Raven.
Television work includes Up Rising (1999-2000), the part of Robert Osborne in Spooks (2002), Dunkirk (2004), Mr Weston in Bash (2006), Mr Tibbs in ITV’s Demons (2008) and Mr Earnshaw in Wuthering Heights (also 2008). In 2009 he gained the part of Harry Morgan in Law and Order, and in 2010 played Fred Thorpe Klaff in New Tricks, and Gerald Farquaharson in Midsomer Murders. Between 2011 and 2012, amongst many other roles, he played Mr Bryant in ITV’s Downton Abbey.
On stage, he appeared at the Almeida Theatre back in 1998 as Grotti in the play Naked. In 1999 he worked under Nicholas Hytner’s direction in The Lady in the Van, and in 2004 played Geoff Fallon in World Music at the Donmar Warehouse, directed by Josie Rourke. In 2007 he played Bernard in Boeing Boeing at the Comedy Theatre – now Harold Pinter Theatre – and in 2008 worked under Michael Grandage’s direction in the Donmar at Wyndhams Theatre, playing Lebedev in Ivanov. In 2012, he played David Bliss in Hay Fever at the Noel Coward Theatre in London’s West End.Read Less
