Ian H Watkins is a Welsh singer and actor. One of the five members of the British pop group Steps, when the group split up in 2001, he decided to move into musical theatre and took a course at the Royal Academy of Music whilst appearing in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He has subsequently appeared in the West End version of Fame in 2007 and as the child catcher in a production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (in Cardiff and Sunderland). Pantomime roles include several reprisals as Buttons in Cinderella (latest in 2007), as Silly Billy in Jack and the Beanstalk at Southport Theatre (2009), and as Muddles in Beauty and the Beast at Grimsby Auditorium (2010).
On television, Watkins has repeatedly worked as a presenter on various shows. In 2007 he took part in Channel 4’s Celebrity Big Brother, ending as the highest placed British contestant in the show. He has starred in the CBBC show Hider in the House and in 2008 was partnered with Connie Fisher contesting in Bargain Hunt Famous Finds.
Having appeared in the last series of Skins, Ian tours this Summer in Rhinestone Mondays, before recording radio drama Bernice Summerfield for Big Finish and appearing in Beauty & The Beast this Christmas.
