Edward Baruwa is a musical theatre performer. He has contributed to the development of various musicals through workshops, such as with the musical Violet at the Young Vic Theatre, Porgy and Bess at the Cambridge Theatre with Trevor Nunn, and Burlesque at the West End’s Arts Theatre. Abroad, he has played the part of Rocky in The Rocky Horror Show on its European Tour, and took the part of Tom Collins in Rent for its run at the English Theatre in Frankfurt. He was part of Miss Saigon’s original UK Tour, and was in both the Cambridge and West End run of Dancing in the Streets. In 2007, he returned to work with Trevor Nunn in the musical of Porgy and Bess at the Savoy Theatre and then in Les Miserables in Queens Theatre. Between 2008 and 2010, he went with Avenue Q to the Noel Coward and Gielgud Theatres. Scaling down in size but not ambition, in 2010 he had a brief performance in The Landor Theatre’s musical production of Smokey Joe’s Café and appeared in Les Miserables’ 25th Anniversary Concert in the O2 Arena. In 2011, he took the part of Lt. Eddie Souther in Sister Act the Musical as it went on its UK Tour. Most recently, he has performed as a guest singer in The Night of 1000 Voices, which performed at The Royal Albert Hall. He has also worked on television with the BBC, in Showtime At The Stadium and in Jerry Springer The Opera.Read Less
