Brendan is a writer, director and actor working in theatre, film and television. His writing work has been nominated for an Emmy, a BAFTA, various Australian Writer’s Guild Awards and won an AACTA (formerly AFI) Award and his plays have been staged at Sydney’s famous Belvoir St. Theatre, in Auckland and in Berlin, as well as touring the UK with the acclaimed company Frantic Assembly. Brendan has also won the Gloria Dawn Payten Award, the Patrick White Playwright’s Award, the Griffin Award, the Nicholas Parsons Young Playwright’s Award and was nominated for an ABIA (Australian Book Industry Award) for his debut novel How It Feels. He was Artistic Director of Wharf 2 at the Sydney Theatre Company for two years, running the producing studio for Australia’s leading theatre. As an actor, Brendan starred in the hit Australian TV series Love My Way (and also wrote eight of the episodes); played Hamlet at Sydney Opera House; and has received one IF and two AFI nominations and a Silver Logie Nomination for Most Popular Actor. He is currently developing a new TV series in the UK, plus adapting his hit play Ruben Guthrie as a screenplay which he is set to direct in Australia at the end of this year.
