Ashley Jensen is a Scottish actress best known for her television roles in Extras (for which she was nominated for an Emmy) and in ABC’s Ugly Betty. Having trained at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, she was a member of the National Youth Theatre and made various television appearances. Starring alongside Ricky Gervais as the socially inept character Maggie Jacobs in the BBC Two/HBO TV programme Extras, she received best television comedy actress and newcomer awards at the 2005 British Comedy Awards, two British Comedy Awards and a BAFTA nomination in 2006, and an Emmy Award nomination as a result of the 2007 Christmas Special. In 2006 she starred in Eleventh Hour on ITV alongside Patrick Stewart, and began her role as Christina McKinney on Ugly Betty, which she stayed in until 2009. The narrator of Channel 4's Embarrassing Illnesses and Embarrassing Bodies, she also narrates Bank of Scotland's current advertisement campaign and Persil detergent adverts for both television and radio. She has been cast as a lead in Alan Ayckbourn’s A Chorus of Disapproval that performs in the West End’s Harold Pinter Theatre between September 2012 and January 2013.Read Less
