Alistair McGowan is a one of Britain’s foremost impressionists and comedians. Following his graduation from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama he quickly found work as a stand up comedian before contributing voices to the popular satirical show Spitting Image. His knack for finely tuned impressions soon led to his own show, The Big Impressions Show, which was one of the most highly rated comedy shows over the course of the four years it ran on BBC1. With a repertoire of over a hundred impressions he is best known for the impression of Posh and Becks, performed alongside fellow comedian Ronnie Ancona.
He has also had a hugely successful career in dramatic acting onstage, initially winning plaudits for his performance in Art at the Wyndhams Theatre in 2000. He has since worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, alongside Judi Dench and Simon Callow, and starred in the West End run of The Mikado at the Gielgud Theatre in 2008. He recently took over from Rupert Everett to play Mr Henry Higgins, in the West End run of Pygmalion at the Garrick Theatre.Read Less
