Join six remarkable ladies from deep south Louisiana - the beautiful and impulsive Shelby; her strong-willed mother, M’Lynn; beauty parlour owner, Truvy; elegant wealthy widow, Clairee; sharp-tongued Ouiser and mousey newcomer Annelle - as they ride life’s rollercoaster and enjoy friendship that has no boundaries.

From the original play in 1987 to its film adaptation in 1989, Steel Magnolias, a true story by Robert Harling following the loss of his beloved sister, is a truly moving play that celebrates the strength and value of friendship, humour, and love in the midst of life’s greatest hardships.

With all the sweet gentility of Southern belles and with strength and wit made of steel, these special ladies will have you crying and laughing together. If you enjoyed Calendar Girls then this is a show that you won’t want to miss!

Venue Access Information

There are four wheelchair spaces available in the stalls. The first counter of the Box Office is at a height suitable for wheelchair users.
Theatre Royal Brighton is equipped with a Sennheiser infra-red sound amplification system. To access the infra-red systems please request receiving equipment from the kiosk situated in the main foyer. Please be sure to request a compatible seat when booking your tickets, as only selected seats work within the infra-red area

Equipment available: Headset This device amplifies sound through earpieces similar to regular headphones. Suitable for persons without a hearing aid or some hearing aid devices that are able to accommodate a headset over them.

The first counter of the box office is fitted with an induction system for people who are hard of hearing.
Guide, hearing and other working dogs are welcome in all parts of the theatre.
There is a separate, accessible toilet facility on the ground floor by the stalls bar.

Church Street car park has an evening flat rate of £5 Mon - Sun 17.30pm to midnight. Pricing at discretion of NCP.

There are bars on every level who can take orders for interval drinks.
The Parlour is open throughout the day for coffee, pastries and plates of savoury delights.
Our charming, stylish rooms throughout the building are available for hire, for meetings, conferences and hospitality. We are happy to arrange catering and extra resources should you need them.
There is no cloakroom available at this venue.

By train:

Theatre Royal Brighton is situated only five minutes walk from Brighton rail station; with frequent train services serving London and the South East.

By road:

From the M23/A23, follow the signs to the town centre. There is parking nearby for over 3,000 cars.

Parking:

Parking is cheaper between 5:30pm and midnight, 7 days a week when pre-booked with NCP at least 24 hours in advance. See NCP's parking information here.
