At a party in the Stahlbaum's family home. Drosselmeyer, the children's enigmatic godfather, presents them with a nutcracker doll - and so begins a dreamlike journey of discovery for the youngest daughter, Marie.
Retold with a fresh and wicked vision for contemporary audiences, Scottish Ballet's The Nutcracker transports audiences into the magical world of ETA Hoffman by way of Weimar Germany, conjuring up a dreamlike surrealist narrative to chart the magical journey of a young girl's awakening.
