Monkee Business follows four young lads who, with the help of a few sexy Russian spies, nonsensical nuns and the odd tambourine, unwittingly get caught up in the most madcap adventure even Austin Powers would be proud of.
With a hilarious mix of groovy adventure, dreamy romance and zany comedy, Monkee Business is the ultimate feel-good musical featuring hit after hit including I'm A Believer, Last Train To Clarksville, My Boy Lollipop, You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me and the smash hit Daydream Believer alongside many, many more iconic songs from the swinging sixties.
Monkee Business the Musical producers pay tribute to Davy Jones.
The producers of the brand new musical Monkee Business have today paid tribute to The Monkees' Davy Jones, who passed away yesterday.
The show, announced last November by The Ambassador Theatre Group and Michael Rose Limited, opens at the Opera House, Manchester, later this month, before playing Glasgow Kings Theatre and the Sunderland Empire.
It features the hits of The Monkees, of which Manchester-born Davy Jones was an integral part – singing lead vocals on many Monkees songs like Daydream Believer.
The producers of Monkee Business the Musical said today: 'We are all deeply shocked and saddened to hear about the death of Davy Jones. He was a wonderfully talented musician and his songs brought happiness to millions of people around the world. We hope that Monkee Business the Musical will be seen as it was always intended, a loving tribute to all of The Monkees and a celebration of their lives and careers. Our thoughts and prayers are with Davy's family and friends at this sad time.
'The Manchester run will be dedicated to Davy, his talent, work and music and the laughter and fun they created for the youngsters of the time, and subsequent generations who have discovered and loved them too.'
Ends.
Notes to editors: Monkee Business the Musical runs at Manchester Opera House from Friday 30 March to Saturday 14 April before Glasgow Kings Theatre from Tuesday 17 April to Saturday 21 April and the Sunderland Empire from Tuesday 24 to Saturday 28 April.
