A Night For Ruby:
In memory of Ruby Owen, who sadly passed away in 2013 but who received such excellent care from The Alder Hey Children's Hospital and the Donna Louise Trust, both of which will share the proceeds from tonights show.
The Donna Louise Trust
The aim of The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice is to make every moment count for our children and their families. We provide a range of specialist care and support services for children with a shortened life expectancy and their families. From our colourful and welcoming hospice in Trentham, Stoke-on-Trent, we offer respite care, day care and also end of life care. Our dedicated team also goes out to family homes to provide specialist support.
The Hospice provides a home-from-home for children between the ages of 0 -19 years from Staffordshire and South Cheshire. Currently, the Charity cares for more than 180 children from South Cheshire and Staffordshire. All the care and support is free of charge to children and families, but to keep the Hospice doors open, the charity needs to raise £2.5 million a year
Research into brain tumours in children being undertaken at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and the University of Liverpool
Money raised will go towards the children’s brain tumour research programme being undertaken as a collaboration between clinicians at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool and scientists at the University of Liverpool. We are aiming to identify new processes that are involved in childhood brain cancers and ways in which therapy for these tumours can be more effectively targeted. Every penny raised for our programme goes directly to research into this devastating group of childhood cancers.
