Sonia Friedman Productions (SFP) enjoyed further success at last night’s Olivier Awards with MasterCard collecting six awards at the prestigious ceremony.
The critically-acclaimed Sunny Afternoon, the musical based on the music of The Kinks, and currently playing at the Harold Pinter Theatre, was the big winner of the night. It was awarded the prize for Best New Musical and Outstanding Achievement in Music, which went to Ray Davies.
Sunny Afternoon also picked up two acting awards with John Dagleish winning the award for Best Actor in a Musical and George Maguire taking the prize for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical.
King Charles III was crowned Best New Play and the award for Best Set Design went to Es Devlin for The Nether, currently playing at The Duke of York’s.
In other awards news, staff at the Apollo Victoria were celebrating as Wicked won the This Morning Audience Award.
