Audiences are in for something very special as Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace return to the New Victoria Theatre, Woking with their breathtaking show, Midnight Tango from Tue 1 – Sat 5 May.
Woking audiences were first treated to this dazzling evening of dance as the popular pair visited the venue with their brand new show last year in May. The show was a complete sell out prompting the producers to add additional performances due to the phenomenal demand, and it is clear their popularity has not waned as the show is set to do the same this year, enjoying tremendous ticket sales with only limited amount of tickets remaining!
The show has gone from strength to strength, following rave reviews for the West End premiere, producers Arlene Phillips and Adam Spiegel announced this year that box office sales in London and around the country have exceeded all expectations and have now reached £4 million. Midnight Tango has recently been nominated for an 2012 Olivier Award in the category for Best Entertainment and Family, proving that the Strictly stars have brought a new audience to dance, as well as delighting regular dance goers.
Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace have dazzled television audiences for six series of the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing with their stunning tango routines. Now, in their live show, they bring to life all the drama, sensuality and elegance of this most exciting of dance forms.
Set in a late-night bar in downtown Buenos Aires, Vincent and Flavia are joined by ten of the finest tango dancers in the world, and, between them, they take the audience on a journey into the heart of this intoxicating city, as danger and excitement, joy and jealousy, pain and passion combine into a spectacular and explosive evening.
An exceptional set of names in the world of theatre and dance have come together to work on this production; the main choreography comes from the two much loved stars, Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace who both live locally in Guildford, Surrey. They met in their teens, embarking on a very successful partnership, competing and winning UK Professional and World Championships. It was in 2006 when the joined the hit show Strictly Come Dancing and became firm favourites with the British public!
Complimenting this collaboration is Karen Bruce who directs this production. Karen has choreographed for both Strictly Come Dancing and So You Think You Can Dance on BBC 1, and recent theatre credits include Pacific Overtures at Donmar Warehouse, for which she won the Olivier Award for Best Choreographer. The show is co-produced by Arlene Phillips and Adam Spiegel. Since forming his theatre production company in 1996, Adam has produced shows extensively in London’s West End, on UK Tour and internationally, including Saturday Night Fever, Fame, Lady Salsa, Hairspray, Sister Act and Strictly Come Dancing Live! Tour. Arlene Phillips is well known for being a judge on BBC’s So You Think You Can Dance and Strictly Come Dancing, her outstanding career has included directing, writing, presenting, choreographing and now producing. Working on the choreography for theatre shows including Wizard of Oz, Flashdance, Grease, Saturday Night Fever and Starlight Express as well as numerous film and TV Shows, arena tours and music videos.
'I am thrilled that the West End and UK Tour of Midnight Tango had already taken £4 million – it’s every producers dream. Vincent and Flavia are outstanding and, together with the brilliant company, make this a must-see show.'
With live music provided by top tango band, Tango Siempre, featuring vocalist Miguel Angel, with only limited availability of tickets still remaining this is a special event not to missed!
