New Wimbledon Theatre hosts professional Musical Theatre training for young people

New Wimbledon Theatre’s creative learning department will be running a week long intensive professional Musical Theatre Intensive Course from the 12 - 16 August for young people aged 13 - 18.

The Musical Theatre Intensive course will be run by professional musical director Joe Bunker and assisted by a Merton based choreographer and actor. This week-long programme will tackle all areas of performing musical theatre from analysing a text on the page to how to sing a solo in front of an audience. Over five days the group will also get the chance to take part in a mock musical theatre audition, learn how to dance the famous Fosse steps and act as part of an ensemble to songs from Godspell, Rent and Guys and Dolls. At the end of the week, those taking part will get the chance create a stunning final showcase in our studio theatre with a live band!

This programme is suitable for complete beginners as well as those wanting to fine tune their existing musical theatre skills and is open to young people aged 13 - 8 years. This year The Wimbledon Civic Theatre Trust (WCTT) are awarding four scholarships (free places) to disadvantaged young people in Merton. To apply email:

The full week course costs £125 and runs from 10am - 4pm, Monday 12 - Friday 16 August 2013.
