Pirate Flash Mob
Thursday 19 September, 4pm
Location: Outside the Good Ship Richmond Theatre
Dress Code: Pirate Garb and bring your favourite sword mateys!
Pirates are taking over at Richmond Theatre next week as the staff will be celebrating the annual Talk Like a Pirate Day on Thursday 19 September with a pirate flash mob event.
It seems that this year’s Richmond Theatre pantomime, Peter Pan, has really captured the imaginations of their staff and volunteers as they will be spending the day dressed as pirates, making sure the building is in ship shape and taking part in a host of themed activities to promote their upcoming Christmas show and to fundraise for their nominated charities – the Richmond Theatre Trust and Great Ormond Street Hospital’s Theatres for Theatres appeal. Each department will be competing to prove they are the greatest pirate crew of all and raise the most money on the day.
The event follows on from Richmond Theatre’s pirate-themed stall which they brought along to the Great River Race on Saturday 7 September, handing out pirate hats, eye patches and flags. According to Richmond Theatre’s Press Officer Rebecca Batten, this was just the first of many pirate-themed events which the RT team have lined up over the coming months.'We’re very excited to have Peter Pan as our pantomime, and we came up with so many fun ideas of how to spread the panto spirit that we’ve had to start a little early this year! Our pirate crew found plenty of new mates at the River Race to come aboard the Good Ship Richmond Theatre this Christmas, so we’re hoping to get everyone involved in ‘Talk Like A Pirate Day’ as well.'
Everyone is invited to come along and take part, fancy dress isn’t mandatory but is encouraged, so get practising your best pirate 'Arrrgh' now and head to Richmond Green next Thursday to join the Richmond Theatre crew.
Richmond Theatre’s production of Peter Pan, starring legendary TV and film actor Henry Winkler (best known for his role as The Fonz in Happy Days) as Captain Hook, will run from Friday 6 December 2013 to Sunday 12 January, and tickets are already on sale.
