West End actress, Haydn Gwynne, has joined international water aid charity Just a Drop’s Mums Army ahead of the campaign launch this Mother’s Day. Currently starring in hit musical, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Haydn will work alongside the charity in recruiting mums up and down the country, as ‘Troop Leaders’ to raise £250,000 and help bring clean water to mothers and their families in developing countries.
Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown is hosting a special fundraising evening on Monday 16 March. A proportion of the proceeds from tickets bought for this performance when using the MUMSARMY promotional code will go towards the MUMS ARMY campaign launched by Just a Drop.
She will also be encouraging sons and daughters across the UK to give something different this Mother’s Day and buy their mum a MUMS ARMY voucher, worth £10, £20, £25, £50 and £100, with proceeds going towards the cause.
Haydn says: 'We’re hoping to really kick-off the campaign with the special fundraising show of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown on Monday 16 March. It’s great to get involved in such an important campaign and I’m looking forward to working with Just a Drop to drive awareness of the problem and, with the help of other mums, to begin to make a difference.'
Founder, Fiona Jeffery OBE, says: 'I set up Just a Drop when I became a mum and understand only too well how mums everywhere only want the best for their children. A child dies every 20 seconds from a water-related disease – usually before his or her fifth birthday; our Mums Army campaign aims to reach out to as many mums in the UK as possible so that they can help ensure no mum has to go through losing her child just because of a lack of access to clean, safe water. We’re delighted to be welcoming Haydn into our MUMS ARMY ranks and we know she will be a fantastic asset in helping us to make a difference.'
